Samsung Unveils Galaxy Buds 3 Pro: A Unique Take on Wireless Earbuds

Samsung has finally embraced a design similar to Apple’s AirPods with their latest release, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. While they are not exact replicas, there are enough similarities to turn heads, especially with the white models. The oblong charging case of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro bears a resemblance to the one that comes with AirPods Pros, albeit with a transparent top.

However, the silver versions of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have distinct design differences. The most notable change is the inclusion of an LED color strip on the stems, known as the “Blade.” This addition brings a touch of flair to the earbuds and introduces swipe and click interactions.

One of the main advantages of adopting a similar form factor to Apple’s AirPods is the increased surface area for controls. The standard Galaxy Buds lack this feature, making it more challenging for users to navigate their earbuds. Additionally, the blade on the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro has a sharp 90-degree angle, in contrast to the AirPods’ softer curve.

Another design difference between the two is the presence of silicone ear tips on the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, which is absent in the standard model, similar to Apple’s offering. Earbud preference is subjective, as personal taste and ear shape play significant roles. However, many users prefer the comfort and secure fit provided by silicone tips.

Samsung acknowledges this diversity in preferences by offering two purpose-built design options for their Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro. The Buds 3 Pro is designed as a Canal Type for those seeking immersive sound, while the Buds 3 is an Open Type suitable for various situations and extended use.

In terms of features, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro boasts adaptive active noise canceling through onboard microphones, as well as siren and voice detection capabilities. Both versions of the Buds 3 are available for pre-order starting Wednesday and will begin shipping on July 24. The standard Galaxy Buds 3 are priced at $180, while the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro come with a higher price tag of $250.

Overall, Samsung’s decision to adopt a design similar to Apple’s AirPods shows the influence and popularity of Apple’s wireless earbuds. By incorporating unique features and addressing design differences, Samsung aims to cater to a wide range of user preferences. Whether users prefer the familiarity of AirPods or the enhanced features of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, there are now more options available in the market for wireless earbuds.
