Skoda has hired former Nio interior designer Chan Park to shape the cabins of its next generation of electric vehicles (EVs). Park, who previously worked at Pininfarina, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi, was responsible for designing the minimalist and tech-centric cockpit of Nio’s ET9 flagship SUV. Skoda is known for its emphasis on physical switches and buttons, but Park’s experience with premium and tech-centric brands aligns with the Czech brand’s goal of combining aesthetics and functionality in its vehicles.
In recent years, Skoda has focused on analog utility, equipping its Superb and Kodiaq models with “Smart Dials” that mimic traditional rotary devices but feature built-in screens for a modern look. Park’s appointment comes as Peter Olah, the previous head of interior design at Skoda, moves into a new role leading Skoda’s One Design Identity strategy. Olah will be responsible for defining and overseeing a holistic 360-degree design strategy, including philosophy, style, and future trend research.
Skoda’s decision to bring in an interior designer with a track record in premium and tech-focused brands indicates the brand’s commitment to evolving its design language and embracing new technologies.
