“Skoda UK Unveils Sleeper Edition Superb with Supercar Performance”

Skoda UK has recently unveiled a unique version of their Superb model called the Sleeper Edition. Despite its unassuming appearance, this car packs a punch with supercar levels of performance. The Sleeper Edition is based on the Laurin & Klement 4×4 version of the outgoing Mk3 estate, but its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-pot engine has been upgraded to produce an impressive 470bhp, up from the original 276bhp. Additionally, torque has almost doubled from 258lb ft to 488lb ft. These substantial increases in power and torque are a result of a comprehensive engine upgrade, including a larger Garrett Powermax turbocharger and a bigger intercooler.

To accommodate the increased power, the fuel system has been revised, and bespoke exhaust components have been added. However, the factory-fitted exhaust box has been retained to maintain the Sleeper’s resemblance to a regular Superb Estate. The only noticeable differences are the 50mm reduction in ride height thanks to new KW coilover suspension and the addition of AP Racing disc brakes with bright red six-pot calipers.

In terms of appearance, the Superb Sleeper retains the same look as the regular Superb, featuring Royal Green metallic paint and Cognac leather upholstery. The car was built by RE Performance, the same company that modified a Skoda Octavia to reach a top speed of 227mph on the Bonneville salt flats. However, the Sleeper Edition is a one-off model and will not be available for public purchase. Instead, it serves as a celebration of the Mk3 Superb, which recently went off sale after selling an impressive 860,000 units globally.

Skoda Superb cars, including the Laurin & Klement edition, are still available for sale in the used car market. Examples listed include the Skoda SUPERB 2.0 TDI Laurin & Klement DSG Euro 6 (s/s) 5dr with 8,143 miles, and the Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI Laurin & Klement DSG Euro 6 (s/s) 5dr with 7,189 miles. These used models offer luxurious features and Euro 6 emissions compliance.

In conclusion, Skoda UK has created a truly impressive vehicle with the Superb Sleeper Edition. By upgrading the engine and enhancing the performance capabilities, Skoda has transformed a seemingly ordinary car into a high-performance machine that can rival supercars. Although the Sleeper Edition is a one-off model, those interested in the Superb can still find used options, including the Laurin & Klement edition, in the market. With its combination of luxury and performance, the Superb continues to be a popular choice for car buyers.
