Skoda recently unveiled an electric single-seater concept for the popular Playstation racing game Gran Turismo. The Skoda Vision Gran Turismo is a unique four-wheel-drive racer designed to attract new fans to the Skoda brand. The concept car is equipped with a powerful 268bhp electric motor on each wheel, resulting in a combined output of 1072bhp and 752lb ft of torque. Skoda claims that its 4WD system and active aerodynamics will ensure outstanding performance. Power is drawn from an 87kWh lithium-ion battery through a single-speed transmission.
To optimize torque distribution between the two axles for better cornering performance, the Vision Gran Turismo features a 4WD layout. It also utilizes a pushrod suspension system, similar to the one used in Formula E, to improve stability at high speeds, reduce body roll, and lower the center of gravity. Above the steering wheel is a crystal stone that displays the car’s power meter.
