“Smart Unveils Powerful New #5 Model with Over 600bhp: Official Specs and Design Revealed”

The new Smart #5 is making waves as the brand’s largest and most powerful model to date. With an impressive output of over 600bhp, the Smart #5 surpasses its smaller crossover counterparts, the #1 and #3, by more than 200bhp. It even outperforms the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Kia EV6 GT. The top-of-the-line twin-motor version of the Smart #5 boasts an astonishing 637bhp, making it a force to be reckoned with on the road.

Although full performance figures have not been released yet, it is expected that the Smart #5 will be able to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in under 3.0 seconds. This level of speed and power places it in direct competition with the Volkswagen ID 4 and other high-performance crossovers in its class.

The Smart #5 offers various options for customers. In addition to the top-tier twin-motor version, there will also be a slightly less potent twin-motor option with 579bhp. For those who prefer a rear-wheel-drive configuration, there will be two single-motor options available, one with 335bhp and another with 358bhp.

When it comes to battery technology, the single-motor models will use lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) batteries, while the all-wheel-drive models will utilize lithium-ion batteries. Although specific battery capacities have not been revealed, it has been confirmed that the Smart #5 will offer more than 100kWh of capacity in its longest-range form. Additionally, it will feature 800-volt charging architecture, allowing for 10-80% top-ups in just 15 minutes.

In terms of size, the Smart #5 measures 4705mm in length, 1920mm in width, and 1705mm in height. This places it in a similar size category as the Peugeot 5008. However, unlike the seven-seater Peugeot, the Smart #5 will come equipped with five seats.

Design-wise, the Smart #5 stays true to the concept version showcased at the Beijing motor show. It maintains the straight-backed, blocky proportions, but with a more road-focused positioning. The production model sits lower and has a more urban appeal.

Although interior pictures have not been released, it is expected that the Smart #5 will feature a digital-heavy and minimalist cabin, similar to the concept version.

Originally slated to arrive in the UK in 2025 with an estimated starting price of around £35,000, the future of the Smart #5’s export potential to Europe is uncertain due to new tariffs on Chinese-made EVs. Smart, which is jointly owned by Mercedes and Geely, manufactures its cars in Xi’an.

Overall, the Smart #5 promises to be an exciting addition to the electric crossover market. With its impressive power output, advanced battery technology, and modern design, it is sure to attract attention from both enthusiasts and eco-conscious buyers.
