“Sneak Peek: Inside the Redesigned Nissan Murano’s Refreshed Cabin”

Nissan is nearing completion on the redesigned Murano, as evidenced by the latest spy photos captured in metro Detroit. While the exterior remains mostly hidden under camouflage, the focus this time is on the interior, revealing a significant departure from the current model.

One of the main criticisms of the current Murano is its dated design, particularly in the placement of the infotainment screen. However, these new pictures show a complete overhaul of the cabin layout. The infotainment screen has been repositioned higher on the dashboard, with a broad, shelf-like lower dash housing the HVAC vents and controls. This configuration bears a resemblance to the Nissan Ariya EV, but with an important distinction: the presence of physical controls. The photos clearly show a large knob and physical climate control buttons, suggesting that Nissan is prioritizing user-friendly tactile interfaces alongside modern technology.

Contrary to some automakers’ focus on electrification in the midsize crossover segment, Nissan is opting to keep the next Murano on its current D platform. This platform has been in use since the Murano’s last update in 2015 and is shared with the Nissan Pathfinder and various Infiniti crossover models. By maintaining this platform, Nissan aims to differentiate the Murano based on its distinctive styling and spacious interior, rather than solely relying on powertrain options. However, enthusiasts are hoping that Nissan will replace the current model’s continuously variable transmission (CVT) with the Pathfinder’s traditional automatic transmission for a more engaging driving experience.

With no specific timeline announced yet, anticipation is growing for the unveiling of the new Murano. Given how long the current model has been on the market, it is clear that Nissan needs to introduce an updated version soon. Fortunately for fans, more information is expected before the year concludes, promising exciting updates on Nissan’s midsize crossover offering.
