Sony ULT Field 1 Portable Speaker: A Review

Sony has recently introduced a new line of products called the Sony ULT Power Sound series. This lineup includes three speakers and a pair of headphones that are variations of Sony’s Extra Bass and XE-Series lines. In this review, we will focus on the ULT Field 1 portable speaker.

Sony ULT Field 1 Speaker Price

The Sony ULT Field 1 speaker is priced at $129.99, which is quite reasonable compared to other speakers from trusted brands like JBL. For example, the JBL Charge 5, which is considered one of the best portable Bluetooth speakers, retails for $179.95.

Design, Connectivity, and Controls

The Sony ULT Field 1 speaker comes in various colors, including black, off-white, forest gray, and orange. It features a standard rectangular body and can be placed vertically or horizontally. The speaker has power, Bluetooth, play/pause/call, volume down, volume up, and ULT buttons for controls.

Connecting the speaker to your phone via Bluetooth is a breeze. Simply power on the speaker, and it will automatically enter pairing mode and show up in your phone’s Bluetooth settings.

Sound Quality

The Sony ULT Field 1 speaker is designed for bass lovers. It delivers dynamic sound pressure and deep bass, making you feel like you’re in the front row at a concert. The speaker has one ULT setting, which provides plenty of bass for its size. Even without the ULT setting, the speaker never sounds blown out or fuzzy.

Battery Life

According to Sony, the ULT Field 1 speaker offers up to 12 hours of playtime on a single charge. While I haven’t conducted a full battery test yet, I have been using the speaker for about two weeks, and the battery is still at 80 percent. This battery life should be sufficient for all-day listening.

Is It Worth It?

The Sony ULT Field 1 speaker is undeniably impressive, especially considering its price point. The sound quality is great, and the ULT 1 setting adds an extra oomph that you won’t find in other portable speakers. However, if you already have a portable speaker that you love, there’s no need to rush and replace it with this one.

That being said, if you prioritize bass in your listening experience or if you’re in the market for a new Bluetooth speaker, the Sony ULT Field 1 is definitely worth considering. It delivers powerful sound at an affordable price. So go ahead and give it a try!
