Tesla Cybertruck: Introducing “Stuck Detection” Feature for Off-Road Challenges

The viral videos of the Tesla Cybertruck getting stuck in various off-road situations have raised questions about the capabilities of the truck. While some may argue that this is a Cybertruck issue, there is also a possibility that inexperienced drivers are struggling to navigate their new trucks effectively. Regardless, Tesla recognizes that it’s their problem to solve. In a post on X, Cybertruck lead engineer Wes Morrill suggested the idea of adding a “stuck detection” feature to the Cybertruck to help drivers deal with these issues.

So, what exactly would this “stuck detection” feature do? Morrill explains that it would consist of a pop-up feature on the Cybertruck’s dashboard screen that appears when the vehicle detects that the driver is stuck. It would provide helpful tips to assist them in getting unstuck. Some examples of suggestions that could be offered include deflating the tires, using trail assist, raising the ride height, or activating sand mode.

Morrill emphasizes that no one is an expert at off-roading the first time they try it, but anyone can learn. He shared his idea in response to a user criticizing Tucker Carlson, a talk show host who got his Cybertruck stuck in the mud. While inexperienced drivers may be partially to blame for the truck’s struggles, there are also broader issues with the Cybertruck’s design and production.

One notable example of such issues was the accelerator pedal getting stuck, which prompted a Cybertruck recall. However, it’s worth noting that this issue has since been resolved. It seems that Tesla is committed to addressing any problems that arise with the Cybertruck and ensuring that drivers have the necessary tools to navigate off-road situations successfully.

As of now, the “stuck detection” feature for the Cybertruck is still in the idea stage. Mashable will continue to monitor this story and provide updates if Tesla decides to implement this feature. In the meantime, it’s crucial for new Cybertruck owners to familiarize themselves with off-road driving techniques and seek guidance from experienced off-roaders to make the most of their vehicle’s capabilities. With time and practice, even inexperienced drivers can become skilled at navigating challenging terrains.
