Tesla Rumored to Be Developing Its Own Voice Assistant, Similar to Siri

Tesla is reportedly working on its own voice assistant, similar to Apple’s Siri, according to Tesla hacker @greentheonly. Evidence for this was found in Tesla’s upcoming software update, version 2024.14.3. The voice assistant, referred to as ‘tesla voice assistant,’ would be activated by a wake word, allowing the vehicle to always listen for commands. This could potentially enhance the overall user experience by providing a more intuitive and hands-free way to interact with the car’s features.

While the name of the voice assistant is unknown, @greentheonly mentioned that it would be narrated by the “Jenny Neutral” voice by Microsoft. This choice of voice could indicate Tesla’s intention to create a gender-neutral voice, addressing concerns of gender bias in voice assistants. However, it is important to note that no official information has been released regarding the features and capabilities of this voice assistant.

Currently, Tesla vehicles already have voice controls accessible by pressing the right scroll button on the steering wheel. However, these controls cannot be activated by a spoken keyword and are limited to basic commands. The addition of a voice assistant could expand the functionality of voice controls, allowing for more complex commands and interactions.

In addition to the voice assistant, Tesla has announced several other features that will be included in an upcoming software update known as the “spring update.” These features include a revamped user interface, hands-free trunk opening, automatic shifting, and the ability to preview Sentry Mode recordings on a smartphone. These updates aim to improve the overall user experience and provide added convenience for Tesla owners.

@greentheonly also revealed some features that have not been officially announced by Tesla. These include support for Amazon Music, additional options for the Driver Profiles, including more restricted profiles, and new Track Mode windows with new settings. These additions demonstrate Tesla’s commitment to continuously enhancing its vehicles and addressing customer feedback.

Finally, @greentheonly mentioned that two new “Wishbone” wheel designs will be available for the new Model 3 in 19 and 20-inch sizes. This suggests that Tesla is focused on not only improving the technology and software aspects of its vehicles but also the overall design and aesthetics.

Although the exact release date of these new features is unknown, Tesla referred to them as part of a “spring” update, indicating that they should be available in the near future. As Tesla continues to innovate and push boundaries in the electric vehicle industry, these updates further solidify their commitment to delivering a cutting-edge and user-friendly experience for their customers.
