“The Aceman: Mini Completes Line-Up with New Electric Hatchback”

The all-new Mini line-up is now complete with the introduction of the Aceman, a compact hatchback positioned between the Cooper and Countryman models. This exciting addition was recently unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show and will be exclusively sold with an electric drivetrain. In fact, it will be built alongside the electric version of the new Cooper in China. However, starting from 2026, production will also take place in Oxford, following a substantial £600 million investment to upgrade the factory. This move is expected to safeguard around 4000 jobs, ensuring a bright future for Mini.

Mini boss Stefanie Wurst has expressed confidence in the Aceman’s potential to become the brand’s best-selling model. The Aceman shares its platform with the electric Cooper, featuring an extended version of the architecture. With dimensions of 4.07m length, 1.75m width, and 1.5m height, it is approximately 20cm longer than the Cooper and has a similar footprint to the Renault Clio. However, the Aceman boasts a slightly taller profile, resembling more of a crossover body style. Mini claims this design allows for increased interior space, providing a comfortable and versatile driving experience.

Upon its launch, the Aceman will be available in two versions: the Aceman E and the Aceman SE. The entry-level Aceman E is equipped with a front-mounted motor producing 181bhp and 214lb ft of torque. It achieves a 0-62mph acceleration time of 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 99mph. Its 42.5kWh battery offers a range of 193 miles, and it can be charged at a peak speed of 75kW. On the other hand, the more powerful Aceman SE features a motor with 215bhp and 243lb ft of torque, allowing it to reach 0-62mph in just 7.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of 106mph. Its larger 54.2kWh battery provides a range of 252 miles, with a faster maximum charging speed of 95kW.

Mini has plans to introduce a sportier JCW Aceman variant, which will utilize the same powertrain as the SE model but with a more aggressive chassis setup. The Aceman’s design takes inspiration from its Mini siblings, featuring the iconic curves of the Cooper at the front and the bolder appearance of the Countryman, complete with square wheel arches. Inside, the Aceman offers seating for five passengers and a boot capacity of 300 liters. While this is slightly less than the Renault Clio, Mini prioritized passenger space. However, with the 60/40-split rear seats folded down, the capacity increases to 1005 liters, matching that of the Clio.

The Aceman marks the completion of Mini’s new line-up, but there are still exciting additions to come. Mini plans to introduce a five-door version of the Cooper and a new Cabriolet model, further expanding their range. The Aceman E is priced from £31,800, while the Aceman SE starts at £36,300. Three trim levels are available: Classic, Exclusive, and Sport. UK deliveries for the Aceman will begin in autumn, offering customers a stylish and environmentally friendly option in the compact hatchback segment.

The Mini brand has come a long way since its inception, and the Aceman represents an important step towards their electrification goals.
