The Aston Martin DBX, the brand’s first-ever SUV, has undergone some significant updates for the 2024 model year. The most notable change is that the DBX is now only available in the top-rung 707 guise, dropping the lower-powered 542bhp version of its twin-turbo V8. While many automakers are moving towards fully digital displays, Aston Martin has taken a different approach. Neil Hughes, head of product management at Aston Martin, explained that the company believes in keeping physical controls because it adds to the craftsmanship of the vehicle. According to Hughes, Aston Martin has reached “peak touchscreen” and wants to provide drivers with quick access to commonly used features without having to fumble around with a touchscreen.
On the outside, the DBX now wears Aston Martin’s latest ‘Wings’ badge and offers new paint schemes. The door handles have been reshaped and can now electronically ‘self-present’ as you approach the car with the key. The door mirrors have also been redesigned and are now frameless.
Underneath the surface, Aston Martin has recalibrated the dampers and retuned the steering to improve the DBX’s response, precision, and driver confidence. These updates aim to enhance the driving experience and make the DBX even more enjoyable to drive.
Aston Martin’s decision to remove the mild-hybrid straight-six DBX from the Chinese market reflects the rapidly changing demands for powertrains in different regions. However, there are no immediate plans to offer an electrified variant of the DBX globally.
The updated DBX is set to begin deliveries in May, with a price increase of around 5-10%, bringing it to approximately £210,000. This price reflects the luxury and exclusivity that the Aston Martin brand represents.
