The Final Jaguar F-Type Rolls Off the Production Line, Marking the Brand’s Transition to Electric Luxury Cars

Jaguar has bid farewell to its iconic F-Type sports car as it shifts its focus towards producing low-volume electric luxury vehicles. The final F-Type, a Giola Green convertible with a tan leather interior and black roof, recently rolled off the production line at Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich facility. This marked exactly 50 years since the last E-Type was produced. The last F-Type will be added to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust’s collection at Gaydon, alongside the final XE, XF, and XF Sportbrake models.

The end of F-Type production at Castle Bromwich means that Jaguar will temporarily become an SUV-only brand. However, the F-Pace will continue to be produced at the Solihull plant, and the E-Pace and I-Pace will be assembled in Graz, Austria until next year. Jaguar’s next electric car, a grand tourer on the new JEA platform, is set to be unveiled later this year. It is expected to have a range of 430 miles, a starting price over £100,000, and a dual-motor powertrain with more than 575bhp.

Jaguar’s chief creative officer Gerry McGovern has stated that the new electric car will draw inspiration from the E-Type and XJS but will be a “copy of nothing.” He emphasized the need for Jaguars to have a “jaw-dropping moment” and a sense of “wow.” Following the grand tourer, Jaguar plans to introduce an opulent SUV to rival the Bentley Bentayga and a large saloon that indirectly replaces the XJ EV.

The F-Type will still be available for purchase in Jaguar showrooms until early next year. With a total of 87,731 units produced, it outperformed the E-Type by 15,000 units. For those looking to own a used F-Type, there are currently several options available on the market, including a Jaguar F-Type 3.0 V6 R-Dynamic, a Jaguar F-Type 5.0 V8 R-Dynamic, and a Jaguar F-Type 3.0 V6 British Design Edition.

As Jaguar transitions to electric luxury vehicles, it is evident that the company is embracing the future of automotive technology. By focusing on electric powertrains and innovative designs, Jaguar aims to captivate car enthusiasts with its upcoming models. The final F-Type’s inclusion in the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust signifies the car’s importance in the brand’s history and its lasting legacy in the automotive world. As Jaguar continues to evolve, car enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the unveiling of the brand’s next electric car, which is expected to redefine luxury and performance in the electric vehicle segment.
