“The New Citroën ë-C3: Pricing, Specifications, and Features Revealed”

The new Citroën ë-C3 is set to become one of the most affordable electric vehicles (EVs) in the UK market. With a starting price of £21,990, it undercuts most other EVs, with only the Dacia Spring and Citroen Ami being cheaper. It also competes favorably with affordable Chinese alternatives on the continent.

The ë-C3 comes with a 44kW battery, providing a range of 199 miles according to WLTP standards. It is powered by a single electric motor that delivers 111bhp to the front wheel. This allows the ë-C3 to accelerate from 0-62mph in around 11.0 seconds, with a top speed of 84mph.

The electric supermini will be available in two specification levels. The ë-C3 Plus features a 10.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with comfort seats and a range of safety aids. The range-topping ë-C3 Max adds additional features such as a reversing camera, automatic air conditioning, heated steering wheel and front seats, and improved safety equipment.

One of the reasons for the ë-C3’s competitive pricing is the use of the cost-effective Smart Car platform. Originally intended for the CC21 C3 sold in India and Latin America, this platform was adapted to meet European regulations and improve refinement.

Citroën is confident that the ë-C3’s range will be sufficient for most customers, as it estimates that the average customer only drives less than 50 miles per day. However, it is worth noting that the ë-C3 does not come with a heat pump, which may affect its performance in cold weather.

The ë-C3 prioritizes ride comfort, featuring Citroën’s Advanced Comfort hydraulic bump stops. It also offers improved passenger space, with generous rear knee room and a more commanding driving position. The ë-C3 does not replace the Citroën C3 Aircross but is part of Citroën’s broader strategy to introduce more electric vehicles based on the Smart Car platform.

Inside, the ë-C3 aims to provide a simple and zen-like atmosphere. It comes with a head-up display as standard and offers a range of infotainment options, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a smartphone dock. The exterior design of the ë-C3 balances maturity and playfulness, featuring color-contrasting accents that can be swapped out.

The ë-C3 is a crucial vehicle for Citroën, as the C3 currently accounts for 40% of the brand’s passenger car sales. With its affordable pricing, decent range, and comfortable ride, the ë-C3 has the potential to attract a wide range of customers looking to transition to electric vehicles.
