The upcoming replacement for the Lamborghini Hurácan is generating a lot of excitement among car enthusiasts. The new model, codenamed 634, is set to be revealed in August and launched later this year. One of the most impressive features of this new supercar is its powerful and high-revving V8 engine.
According to Lamborghini, the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 in the 634 will produce a staggering 789bhp and 538lb ft of torque. The new supercar will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a slimline electric motor integrated into the gearbox. While Lamborghini has not confirmed the supplier of the electric motor, it is speculated that it may come from British company Yasa. The move to a plug-in hybrid system has significant implications for the dynamic behavior of the Hurácan’s successor. According to Lamborghini sales and marketing boss Federico Foschini, the PHEV system allows for characteristics that cannot be achieved with a traditional internal combustion engine alone, such as active torque vectoring. Visually, the new supercar will bear a resemblance to Lamborghini’s flagship model, the Revuelto. It will feature a dramatic silhouette inspired by head of design Mitja Borkert’s ‘spaceship’ ethos, as well as iconic Lamborghini design cues such as a hexagonal exhaust, Y-shaped LED light designs, and prominent air channels to enhance downforce.
To keep costs down, the junior model will make use of cheaper aluminum in areas where it won’t compromise rigidity. This approach follows the strategy employed with the Huracán and Audi R8, which used carbon fiber for key structural elements but primarily relied on aluminum for the rest of the body.
The Hurácan successor will be built on the same production line as the Revuelto, marking the first time that Lamborghini has produced both its supercars in series. This is made possible by the sharing of major architectural and electrical components between the two models.
