The Next Generation Porsche 911 GT3: What to Expect in 2025

Porsche enthusiasts and sports car lovers have been eagerly awaiting news about the upcoming 2025 model year of the iconic 911 GT3. Carbuzz recently discovered that Porsche had removed the 911 GT3 from its order books, sparking speculation about what changes are in store for the highly anticipated refresh. The automaker confirmed that the 911 Turbo and Turbo S models, along with the GT3 RS, will still be available for the 2025 model year. Additionally, the new 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera GTS (992.2) will be joining the lineup.

One of the key updates expected for the 2025 911 GT3 is a redesigned wing, as seen in recent spy shots from the Nürburgring. Although not many details have leaked yet, it is speculated that the front and rear fascias will be altered for improved aerodynamics. These changes will likely align the GT3 with the updated Carrera models, incorporating new headlights, taillights, and trim elements, possibly even borrowing from the hybrid GTS.

As for performance, the 2024 GT3 currently delivers an impressive 502 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque from its naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine. While information about power upgrades remains scarce, some experts predict that the refreshed GT3 could potentially see a slight increase to around 510 horsepower. Inside the cabin, the GT3 is expected to receive a digital instrument cluster, bidding farewell to the iconic analogue tachometer.

Looking ahead, Porsche enthusiasts have even more to be excited about. In the coming years, Porsche will be introducing updated versions of the 911 Turbo, Turbo S, and GT3 RS, set to debut in 2026. These models will join the lineup alongside the GT2 RS, which was recently spotted at the Nürburgring. While the aesthetic similarities between the GT3 and GT2 RS are apparent, the GT2 RS distinguishes itself with a twin-turbo flat-six engine that produces a deeper, more resonant sound compared to the GT3’s naturally aspirated engine.

Motor Authority speculates that Porsche may also unveil a new turbocharged special edition, potentially called the Turbo S Touring. This variant, similar to the Turbo-based 911 Sport Classic, is expected to feature rear-wheel drive and a modified exterior with omitted side intakes and a fixed rear wing. Furthermore, the Turbo model is set to receive an electrified powertrain, similar to the GTS T-Hybrid, with hybrid branding on the prototype and a speculated eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

These updates to the 911 range signify Porsche’s commitment to delivering high-performance sports cars with enhanced everyday drivability. By refining the GT3 and introducing new variants, Porsche aims to differentiate the models within the lineup.
