“The People’s Town Hall: X Plans Event with Former President Donald Trump and Other Presidential Candidates”

X’s Plans for a Donald Trump Town Hall Event: A Potential Friendship in the Making?

In the past 24 hours, X, formerly known as Twitter, has been ablaze with discussions surrounding former president Donald Trump’s 34 felony convictions. While Trump himself has not been active on the platform, X owner Elon Musk recently unsuspended his account after acquiring the platform in late 2022. However, Trump has only posted once since then, using his account to launch a fundraiser that capitalized on his publicly released mugshot, which was unrelated to his recent convictions.

Despite Trump’s limited activity on X, it seems that Musk and his team have plans to bring him back into the mix. Reports suggest that X, in collaboration with TV network NewsNation, is preparing to host a series of town hall events titled “The People’s Town Hall” with the major presidential candidates running in the 2024 election. X CEO Linda Yaccarino is spearheading this initiative to bring more video content to the platform.

While no specific dates or locations have been announced yet, the current plan involves X hosting a town hall featuring both Donald Trump and independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Musk himself expressed his interest and called the upcoming event “interesting” in response to an article discussing X’s plans for the town hall.

However, it seems that President Joe Biden’s campaign has declined the offer to participate in the X town hall event. The original plan was reportedly to hold a debate before settling on the town hall concept, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

X users will have the opportunity to submit questions for the candidates, although the moderators will have the final say on which questions are asked on-air. This allows for a democratic approach while maintaining control over the content that is broadcasted.

Interestingly, this potential town hall event is not the first instance of Musk and Trump’s recent connection. According to the Wall Street Journal, the two have been developing a friendly rapport, speaking on the phone multiple times each month. Musk has been known to express right-wing talking points and conspiracy theories on X, frequently criticizing President Biden and making it clear that he did not support him during the 2020 election. However, Musk has not yet endorsed any candidate in the 2024 election.

In fact, there have been discussions about Trump potentially offering Musk an advisory role if he were to win the election. These discussions have even touched on specific policy areas such as immigration and the economy, where Musk could have a significant influence. Additionally, Musk has expressed his intention to fund a data project aimed at mitigating voter fraud during his conversations with Trump.

While nothing concrete has been announced by either Musk or Trump, the possibility of them collaborating in the future, even if it is just for a town hall event on X, should not come as a surprise. The growing friendship between the two and their shared interests suggest that there may be more in store for their relationship. As the situation continues to develop, it will be intriguing to see how these connections unfold and potentially impact the political landscape.
