Top 5 Beginner Tips for World of Warcraft Dragonflight Mythic+

Think only hardcore veterans can excel in Mythic+? Not at all! Today, we’re sharing a bunch of tried-and-true tips and tricks for beginners to help you get the hang of M+ and grind those keys faster. While this guide is mainly designed for newbies, don’t rush off if you’re a bit more experienced as some of these pointers might still be useful for you. Regardless of your experience level, you can also get a WoW Mythic boost to quickly up your rating and find a solid team to tackle even the highest keys with.

With that out of the way, let’s dive into what you can do to improve your gameplay in Mythic+!

Keybinds

Keybinding is essential in the game, especially for Mythic+ content where you can’t afford to waste time clicking abilities with your mouse. While it might seem manageable during practice, once you’re in a dungeon, where you have to deal with movement, manage your defensives, and react to boss mechanics all at once, clicking becomes a huge liability. It not only slows you down in combat but also puts you at risk, because things get very hectic in real fights and even minor delays can cost you dearly. For this problem, keybinds offer the ultimate solution.

As a beginner, you don’t need to keybind every single spell. Start with assigning your core rotational abilities to specific keys on your keyboard. Also, make sure to have comfortable binds for major cooldowns, especially the defensive ones. Experiment with different combos to find what feels most natural and efficient for you. Many players also use MMO mice, which might seem overwhelming at first, but once you get used to them, you’ll notice a huge improvement in gameplay.

Rotations

For a beginner Mythic+ player, it’s crucial to practice as often as you can to learn to use your spells instinctively. Developing muscle memory for different forms of damage and healing depending on your role is vital. The best way to achieve the necessary level of automaticity is to train on dummies. Use your keybinds to get comfortable and try adding movement to simulate a real combat situation, where you won’t be standing still but will need to move to avoid incoming spells.

Practice your rotations and learn your damage priorities in various situations. Train as much as needed to minimize the time you spend looking at your action bars. Once your spell rotations get automatic, gameplay will become much easier. You won’t have to think about which ability to use and instead focus on more important tasks like boss mechanics and information from addons. Speaking of addons…

Addons

Like it or not, addons are a big part of WoW these days, and playing Mythic+ without them means missing out on huge advantages. Addons make your gameplay smoother and more convenient, providing tons of information that can significantly help in battles.

As a beginner M+ dungeoneer, you don’t need to aim for the highly customizable and complex tools used by top Mythic guilds. Just start with the essentials:

  • Deadly Boss Mods (DBM) or BigWigs for boss timers and mechanic alerts.
  • Plater or Threat Plates to customize nameplates and get more info on mobs.
  • WeakAuras for adding custom UI elements with essential info like core spells, cooldowns, and boss mechanics.
  • OmniCD to keep track of your group’s cooldowns.

For slightly more advanced use, we also recommend:

  • Mythic Dungeon Tools for effectively planning dungeon routes, strategies, and pull patterns.
  • Details! Damage Meter to track your damage and performance.

Having more addons means being more informed, which is great, but don’t go to the extreme and clutter your UI with too many plates and notifications, as this will have the opposite effect. Keep things simple and stick to the essentials, adding more addons gradually as you get more comfortable using them.

Consumables

Consumables are incredibly important in instanced content. Flasks, phials, potions, and similar items give you valuable buffs that boost your power and survivability. When pushing keys, it’s crucial not to die, so healing potions are especially vital in your arsenal, as well as consumables that let you deal more damage. We highly recommend stocking up on Refreshing Healing Potions and Elemental Potions of Ultimate Power, along with any damage-boosting consumables specific to your class.

Dungeon Study

Mythic+ content is a whole different beast compared to regular dungeons, both in terms of difficulty and pacing. A dungeon that was easy for you on Normal can become a real challenge even on low keys in Mythic+. This is because M+ bosses and mobs have unique mechanics, and everything in the instance happens much faster and more intensely than on other difficulties.

The first step in your preparation should be running Heroic dungeons. They’re challenging enough to get you used to the difficulty but still manageable to give you a good understanding of the main mechanics. Pay close attention to trash packs because their abilities often mirror those you’ll encounter in boss fights. The dungeon journal will provide you with basic info on boss mechanics, but using a more advanced addon like Mythic Dungeon Tools, which we mentioned earlier, will give you more detailed insight into each NPC and their abilities. It’s also helpful to read guides on specific dungeons to understand what you and your group need to do.

If you happen to die, make sure to check the dungeon log to see what spell killed you and why. Then, research that spell using your addons. This will help you avoid similar mistakes in the future and improve your performance.
