Toyota Recalls Over 33,000 Vehicles Due to Incorrect Load-Carrying Capacity Stickers

Toyota Recalls Over 33,000 Vehicles Due to Load-Carrying Capacity Sticker Issue

Toyota has announced a recall of 33,848 cars, trucks, and SUVs in North America due to an issue with load-carrying capacity stickers. This recall affects a wide range of Toyota models, including sports cars, pickup trucks, and family vehicles, and is one of the largest recalls the company has issued in recent years.

The recall originated with Gulf States Toyota, a dealership group based in Texas and an official distributor of Toyota accessories. The dealership group discovered a vehicle with an incorrectly modified load-carrying capacity sticker, which prompted the recall. This sticker issue could potentially lead to owners accidentally overloading their vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

To address this problem, Toyota will be sending notification letters to owners on or before September 16, 2024. These letters will include corrected load-carrying capacity stickers for each model, along with detailed replacement instructions. Toyota is also offering free replacements at any of their dealerships.

It’s worth noting that load-carrying capacity is affected by any additional weight added to the vehicle. For example, if an owner adds 150 pounds of gear, the listed load capacity decreases by 150 pounds. Therefore, it is crucial to have an accurate load-carrying capacity sticker to ensure safe and proper vehicle loading.

The recall population includes various models from the 2023 to 2025 lineup, such as the BZ4X, Camry Hybrid, Corolla, Corolla Cross Hybrid, Crown, 4Runner, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Grand Highlander, Grand Highlander Hybrid, GR Corolla, GR86, GR Supra, Land Cruiser Hybrid, Prius, Prius Prime, Sequoia Hybrid, Tacoma, Tacoma Hybrid, Tundra, Tundra Hybrid, and Venza Hybrid.

To determine if their vehicle is involved in the recall, owners can check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recalls website or use Toyota’s recall tool.

Recalls are an important aspect of ensuring vehicle safety, and Toyota’s swift action in addressing this issue demonstrates their commitment to customer satisfaction and safety. By providing corrected load-carrying capacity stickers and offering free replacements, Toyota is taking the necessary steps to rectify the situation and prevent any potential accidents or mishaps.

In conclusion, if you own a Toyota vehicle, it is essential to check if your model is included in the recall and take the necessary steps to obtain the corrected load-carrying capacity sticker. Safety should always be the top priority, and by addressing this issue promptly, Toyota is setting an example for other automakers to prioritize the well-being of their customers.
