Toyota Unveils Two New EVs for the Chinese Market: Introducing the bZ3C and bZ3X

Toyota recently unveiled two production-ready electric vehicles (EVs) that will be available to purchase in China – the bZ3C and the bZ3X. While Toyota provided limited information about these vehicles, we can still gather some details from the reveal. The bZ3C stands out with its sleek fastback roofline and low, wedge-shaped nose, giving it a sporty appearance. Its minimalist interior is accentuated by red upholstery and ambient lighting, adding some flair to the overall design. Toyota describes the theme of this car as “Reboot” and highlights its co-development with BYD and FAW, two of its joint-venture divisions.

On the other hand, the bZ3X is a more upright SUV, featuring a pointy nose that aligns it with the design language of the bZ3C. The cabin design is similar to the bZ3C, but with a cream-colored upholstery that complements its “Cozy Home” theme. Toyota mentions that this model was co-developed with its GAC partners.

Although Toyota hasn’t revealed specific details about pricing, performance, or range, it’s likely that both models will share similarities with the previously launched bZ3 sedan. The sedan relies on lithium-iron-phosphate batteries from BYD and offers powertrains with 178 to 238 horsepower and a claimed range of over 370 miles.

One key feature Toyota did mention about both models is the inclusion of advanced driver-assist systems. Images of camera and sensor bumps on the roof and fenders suggest that these EVs will offer similar technology to some Lexus LS models.

Despite the excitement surrounding these new EVs, it’s unlikely that they will be available in the U.S. market anytime soon. These models have been closely developed with Chinese partners and are expected to cater primarily to the Chinese market.
