Tuthill GT One: A Tribute to Porsche’s Legendary Endurance Racers

British Porsche specialist Tuthill has unveiled its latest creation, the Tuthill GT One. This road-going supercar pays homage to the iconic GT1-spec Le Mans racers that Porsche introduced in the 1990s. Tuthill wanted to create a vehicle that was designed specifically for the road, unlike the compromised road-legal counterparts that were built for track use. The GT One’s design was led by Florian Flatau, who previously worked at American 911 restomodder Singer. The car features a long, low-drag silhouette made entirely from carbon fiber, resulting in a curb weight of just 1200kg. The aerodynamics were optimized using computer fluid dynamics, ensuring maximum downforce and efficiency.

Under the hood, the GT One is powered by a Tuthill-fettled 4.0-liter flat six engine. In standard form, it produces over 500bhp, but there is an optional turbo package that boosts the power to over 600bhp. Buyers have the choice between a manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Tuthill took inspiration from their previous restomod projects, particularly the 911K 3.1-liter engine, known for its high revs. The GT One is a limited edition model, with only 22 examples to be built. Each car will require approximately 3500 hours of meticulous construction.

Richard Tuthill, the company boss, expressed his excitement about the project and the team that made it possible. He emphasized the pursuit of mechanical excellence and the inspiration they drew from their past projects and what others have achieved in the automotive industry. Tuthill hopes that the owners of the GT One will not only own the car but also drive it frequently and create lasting memories.

In conclusion, the Tuthill GT One is a unique and exclusive supercar that pays tribute to Porsche’s GT1 race cars. With its track-honed technology, analog focus, and meticulous construction, this road-going vehicle offers a thrilling driving experience. Its aerodynamic design, lightweight construction, and powerful engine make it a standout in the automotive world. With only 22 examples to be built, owning a GT One is a truly special opportunity for enthusiasts.
