To address this challenge, Accenture and AWS have collaborated to release the Accenture Responsible AI Platform powered by AWS. This platform aims to guide decision-makers in approaching AI technology while offering flexibility for companies at different stages of their AI journey.
Accenture Chief AI Officer Arnab Chakraborty emphasizes that the platform brings together the best capabilities of both Accenture and AWS, providing clients with access to different tool stacks from AWS and its partners. This flexibility allows companies to customize the platform to test for specific areas of responsible AI or industry-specific risks.
The platform assists companies throughout the entire lifecycle of their AI programs, from identifying risks to addressing these issues and creating compliance programs. By doing so, it enables enterprises to scale up or down their generative AI pilot programs as needed. AWS already offers responsible AI and safety programs, including the recently released Guardrails API, which helps address AI safety concerns.
However, despite the growing recognition of responsible AI, many companies have yet to address it. A survey conducted by PwC found that only 58% of the 1,001 companies surveyed had begun addressing responsible deployment of generative AI. Accenture’s own research reveals that only 2% of companies are currently responsible for AI operations in their businesses.
Chakraborty suggests that companies may be overwhelmed with building generative AI applications and find it challenging to add responsible AI tasks. However, enterprises understand the potential consequences of AI going awry and recognize the importance of responsible AI.
While technical platforms like the Accenture Responsible AI Platform can help companies start their journey towards responsible AI, there is still a need for more guidance. Enterprises must understand what responsible AI fully entails and how it applies to their specific business. Factors such as defining responsible AI, identifying leaders, talent shortage, and prioritization remain stumbling blocks for many companies.
To prevent technology from evolving faster than responsible AI policies, enterprises must act swiftly. The collaboration between Accenture and AWS is just one example of how companies are working to provide the necessary tools and support for responsible AI deployment. With responsible AI efforts continuing to grow, it is crucial for businesses to prioritize responsible AI and ensure that AI technology is deployed in a responsible and ethical manner.
