“Unveiling Alan Wake 2 Night Springs Expansion: New DLC, Adventure, and Photo Mode”

Remedy Entertainment, the Helsinki-based company behind the critically acclaimed game Alan Wake, recently unveiled the Night Springs expansion downloadable content (DLC) for Alan Wake 2. This expansion includes physical editions for the game, a new photo mode, and a new adventure set in Bright Falls. The DLC takes players back into the mysterious and ever-twisting world of the Dark Place, where protagonist Alan Wake seeks an escape route through his imagination. As he writes scripts for the TV show “Night Springs,” he unwittingly unravels reality, creating a surreal journey for players.

Night Springs offers three highly stylized episodes, each featuring fan-favorite characters in Night Springs versions of themselves. In the first episode, “Time Breaker,” players take on the role of The Actor, who bears a resemblance to Bright Falls sheriff Tim Breaker. The Actor must track down the Master of the Many Worlds and prevent him from killing different versions of himself across parallel universes.

In the second episode, “North Star,” players control The Sibling, a woman who looks like FBC Director Jesse Faden. The Sibling is on a mission to find her missing brother, who is being held captive at Coffee World. This episode takes place in Coffee World and offers players a chance to explore and fight their way through the environment.

The third episode, “Number One Fan,” features The Waitress, who resembles Rose Marigold from the Bright Falls diner. The Waitress must save her idol, The Writer, from danger while confronting his critics and his evil twin, the Bad Boy. This episode showcases a campy and cheerful personality.

To access the Night Springs expansion, players need to have the main game in the form of the Deluxe Edition. The Expansion Pass, which includes Night Springs and a second expansion called The Lake House, can be obtained through the digital Deluxe Edition or forthcoming physical Deluxe and Collector’s Editions. However, the expansions are not sold separately.

The Night Springs expansion also introduces new trophies/achievements, with four new ones per episode, totaling 12. Additionally, a free update on June 8 will bring a Photo Mode to the game, allowing players to capture and customize their in-game photos.

For fans who prefer physical editions, pre-orders for the physical Deluxe Edition and Limited Collector’s Edition will begin on June 8. The Deluxe Edition, priced at $80, includes the base game, Digital Deluxe Edition items, the Expansion Pass, and more. The Limited Collector’s Edition, priced at $200, offers additional items such as an Angel Lamp replica, an artbook, and a keychain.

Teasers for the Night Springs expansion were showcased during the Summer Game Fest. The demo featured a fan of Alan Wake named Rose Marigold, who embarks on a quest to find the missing writer. Her episode takes place in daylight and provides a humorous departure from the dark and nightmarish world of Alan Wake 2.

Overall, the Night Springs expansion offers players a chance to immerse themselves in the surreal and captivating world of Alan Wake like never before. With its unique characters, stylized episodes, and new gameplay features, it promises to be an exciting addition to the game.
