“Unveiling the Tag Championship: Lanzante’s Upgraded Formula 1-Engined Porsche 911 at Goodwood Festival of Speed”

Lanzante, an engineering firm based in Petersfield, has recently announced its plans to unveil an upgraded version of its Formula 1-engined Porsche 911 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This new model, called the Tag Championship, is based on the 930-generation 911 Turbo and features a powerful engine that was previously used in McLaren’s F1 cars.

The Tag Championship 911 is equipped with a 1.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that has been upgraded by Cosworth for road use. The engine has undergone several changes, including the addition of new pistons, conrods, valves, improved cooling, and lighter titanium turbochargers. As a result, it now produces an impressive 625bhp, up from the previous 503bhp, and can rev up to 10,250rpm.

In addition to the engine upgrade, Lanzante has made several other modifications to the Tag Championship 911. The car now features a reworked version of the six-speed gearbox from the later 993-gen 911 and a set of bespoke gear ratios that allow for a top speed of 200mph. The chassis has also been overhauled, and many of its body panels have been replaced with carbon fiber panels that are of “Formula 1-grade” quality.

Inside the Tag Championship 911, Lanzante has stripped away most of the unnecessary features to reduce weight and improve performance. The car now sports Recaro bucket seats instead of the original leather seats, and a Personal steering wheel, similar to the one used in McLaren’s MP4/2 F1 car, completes the package. These changes have resulted in a weight saving of over 400kg, with the car tipping the scales at just 920kg (dry).

Only three Tag Championship 911s will be built, paying homage to the three F1 drivers’ titles won by McLaren’s MP4/2. The first car will feature a livery inspired by Alain Prost’s 1985 helmet design.

For automotive enthusiasts looking for a Porsche 911 Turbo S, there are several options available in the used car market. Some of the options include a Porsche 911 3.4 991 Carrera PDK Euro 5 with 42,000 miles, a Porsche 911 3.6 997 Carrera Cabriolet PDK with 72,000 miles, and a Porsche 911 3.8 997 Carrera GTS Cabriolet PDK with 51,000 miles.

In conclusion, Lanzante’s announcement of the upgraded Tag Championship Porsche 911 has generated excitement among car enthusiasts. The combination of the powerful engine, chassis upgrades, and weight-saving modifications make this limited-edition model a highly desirable and unique offering in the sports car market. With only three units available, the Tag Championship 911 is sure to become a sought-after collector’s item for automotive enthusiasts.
