“Vauxhall Frontera: The Stylish and Affordable Electric SUV with Up to 248 Miles of Range and Seven Seats”

Vauxhall is set to launch the new Frontera, an electric SUV that will replace the Crossland. The Frontera will be available with two battery options, offering a range of either 186 miles or 248 miles. Both batteries can be charged at up to 100kW, providing fast and convenient charging options for drivers.

In addition to the electric version, Vauxhall will also offer a mild-hybrid petrol option. This option includes a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine with either 100bhp or 136bhp, combined with a 28bhp 48V motor. The power is delivered to the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The trim structure of the Frontera will follow Vauxhall’s existing lineup, with three options: Design, GS, and Ultimate. The car will eventually offer the option of seven seats, similar to the Citroën C3 Aircross.

While full pricing details for the UK market have not been released yet, the Frontera has been launched in Germany with a starting price of around €24,000 for the mild-hybrid version and €29,000 for the electric variant. This suggests that the petrol version could be priced at around £20,000 and the electric version at £25,000 in the UK, making it one of the most affordable electric SUVs available.

The Frontera is built on the Smart Car platform, which is also used for the new Citroën C3 and C3 Aircross. With a length of 4380mm, it is slightly longer than its predecessor, the Crossland, and will compete with popular models like the Dacia Duster and Nissan Qashqai.

The design of the Frontera takes inspiration from its namesake from the 1990s. It features a more rugged and upright two-box silhouette, which Vauxhall’s managing director, James Taylor, believes will appeal to customers who want to stand out from the crowd.

Inside, the Frontera offers a comfortable and spacious cabin, designed for longer journeys. The seats have two separate cushions for added comfort, and the seat backs have smartphone pockets and individual USB-C outlets. The dashboard has been redesigned with Vauxhall’s ‘Pure Panel’ digital interface, consisting of a pair of 10-inch screens, replacing physical buttons for a more minimalist layout.

In terms of practicality, the Frontera offers 450 litres of boot space with the rear seats up and 1600 litres with them folded. The roof rails can support loads of up to 240kg, maximizing cargo capacity.

Vauxhall is confident that the Frontera will appeal to new and existing customers, fitting well between the Mokka and the upcoming all-new Grandland in their SUV lineup. With its range of powertrain options, spacious interior, and competitive pricing, the Frontera aims to be a versatile and attractive choice in the electric SUV market.

Overall, the introduction of the Vauxhall Frontera marks an important step in Vauxhall’s commitment to electric mobility. With its range, design, and affordability, the Frontera is poised to make a significant impact in the electric SUV segment.
