“Volvo EX90: New Electric Flagship SUV Sets Safety Standards”

Volvo’s highly anticipated electric flagship SUV, the EX90, is finally set to go into production in the coming months, more than 18 months after its initial reveal. The Swedish automaker has promised that the EX90 will establish new safety standards, making it the safest car Volvo has ever produced. The delay in production was largely due to software issues, as the EX90 is Volvo’s first “software-defined” vehicle, featuring an advanced operating system developed entirely in-house.

The EX90 is built on Volvo’s advanced SPA2 electric car platform, which it shares with the new Polestar 3 SUV. This platform allows for more effective use of driver assistance systems, thanks to a complex system of sensors and chips. The car uses a lidar scanner, five radars, eight sensors, and 12 ultrasonic sensors to scan the road ahead and enhance safety features. These features not only protect occupants inside the car but also pedestrians and other road users.

Volvo’s focus on safety is evident in the EX90’s interior design as well. The car is equipped with a driver monitoring system and interior sensors that detect occupants, ensuring that no one is locked inside the vehicle. The cabin itself is spacious and luxurious, with a large panoramic roof, soft-touch materials, and open-pore wood finishes.

On the road, the EX90 offers a comfortable and quiet ride. Volvo prioritized ride comfort in the vehicle’s development, resulting in impressive isolation from outside noise. The optional air suspension system and torque-vectoring technology contribute to a smooth and stable driving experience. While the EX90 is not designed for sporty driving, its focus on comfort and consistency aligns with Volvo’s brand identity.

The EX90 will be available in the UK with a single trim level (fully loaded Ultra) and two four-wheel-drive powertrains. The Twin Motor version delivers 402bhp, while the Performance version offers 510bhp. Both powertrains feature a 107kWh battery with a range of 364 to 360 miles, depending on the version. The EX90 also supports rapid charging at rates of up to 250kW, allowing for quick and convenient charging.

Overall, the Volvo EX90 is shaping up to be a strong contender in the premium SUV segment. Its emphasis on safety, advanced technology, and luxurious comfort make it a compelling choice for consumers. With production set to begin soon, potential buyers can look forward to experiencing the EX90’s impressive features firsthand.
