“X Removes Ability to Hide Checkmarks for Premium Users: What This Means for Influencers and Subscribers”

Feature Removal Announced for X Social Network

Elon Musk-owned social network X has recently announced that it will be removing a feature that allows paid users to hide their checkmarks from others. The company has started sending out notifications to users, informing them of this impending change. However, just like many decisions made by X, there is no definitive timeline for when this feature will be removed.

In a recent update, the company removed the section on the X Premium support page that described how to hide the checkmark feature. This removal was done before sending out the notifications to users. It’s important to note that the feature was not available to basic tier subscribers.

The now-removed section on the support page stated, “As a Premium or Premium+ subscriber, you can choose to hide your checkmark on your account. The checkmark will be hidden on your profile and posts. The checkmark may still appear in some places, and some features could still reveal that you have an active subscription.” This information highlighted the limitations of the feature.

Earlier this month, X introduced blue checkmarks for influential users with more than 2,500 “verified” followers. These checkmarks serve as a symbol of authenticity and credibility. Alongside this update, the company began offering its Premium subscription to these verified users, while users with more than 5,000 verified followers were given access to the Premium+ subscription.

It is worth noting that last year, Elon Musk removed the legacy verification checkmark after implementing a subscription program for it. However, the company later reinstated the blue checkmark for top accounts. Essentially, the verification program has come full circle and returned to its original purpose of verifying notable individuals.

Overall, these changes in X’s features and subscriptions highlight the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance the user experience and ensure the authenticity of its platform. While the removal of the hide checkmark feature may disappoint some users, it is important to remember that X is constantly evolving and refining its offerings to meet the needs of its diverse user base.
