“Zeekr Reveals 7X, a Premium Electric SUV Set to Take on the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento”

Zeekr, the Chinese brand owned by Geely, has unveiled its latest model, the Zeekr 7X. This premium electric SUV is set to go on sale in China in September and will eventually be available in other markets, including Europe, by the end of 2025. The Zeekr 7X is the third model in Zeekr’s lineup, following the Zeekr 001 saloon and Zeekr X crossover EVs, which are already on sale in some European markets.

The Zeekr 7X is a spacious SUV, measuring 4.8m long, 1.9m wide, and 1.7m tall. While it doesn’t offer a third row of seats, it aims to provide a roomier alternative to competitors like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento. The second row offers ample space, and Zeekr claims that the 7X can easily support a camping staycation over the weekend. The boot capacity of the 7X is 616 liters, slightly smaller than some rivals, but still practical for everyday use.

Underneath its sleek exterior, the Zeekr 7X is built on the same SEA platform as the rugged Smart #5 SUV. It is powered by either a 75kWh or 100kWh battery, with the larger battery pack expected to be the standard option in Europe. The #5 SUV, which shares the same architecture, offers a range of 348 miles. The 7X also benefits from the same 800V electrical architecture as the #5, allowing for fast charging from 10-80% in just 15 minutes.

Performance-wise, Zeekr claims that the 7X can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds, although specific power and torque figures have not yet been released. As for the interior, details on the European-market models are still unknown, but it is expected that it will feature a dual-screen setup and a range of active safety features.

One of the key factors that will likely attract buyers is the expected price point. Zeekr aims to undercut its rivals, and the 7X is expected to start at around £40,000 in the UK. This competitive pricing, combined with its premium features and spacious interior, could make the Zeekr 7X an appealing option for those in the market for a mid-size electric SUV.

Overall, the Zeekr 7X represents another step forward for the Chinese electric vehicle market. With its sleek design, spacious interior, and competitive pricing, it has the potential to attract buyers both in China and abroad. As Zeekr continues to expand its lineup and enter new markets, it will be interesting to see how it competes with other established brands in the electric SUV segment.
