Movies are the pinnacle of entertainment in the modern era. And as the year 2019 comes to a close, it’s safe to say that we already know the biggest movies to look out for in 2020. Warning: You might have to cut down your food budget, clothing budget, and even your online gambling budget at Bluefox Casino after seeing this list of the most anticipated movies for the upcoming year.
- Godzilla vs. Kong – March 13
Let’s start with a big one, one with the biggest protagonists. Fans will get an answer as to who is the most powerful monster among the most powerful monsters ever to be shown on television. Unlike the 1962 film that first pit Godzilla and King Kong against each other, Director Adam Wingard has assured fans that this time they will get a definitive winner.
The mega-fight was first established in the Godzilla movie that came out in 2014 and was later confirmed in King: Skull Island. For Wingard, Godzilla vs. Kong is the biggest project yet and so he’s chosen a great cast to go along with it: Stranger Things’ Millie Bobbie Brown, Black Panther’s Danai Gurira, and Deadpool 2’s Julian Dennison.
- The New Mutants – April 3
Fans have been waiting for this movie for quite a while now; in fact, they’ve waited more than two years! The initial trailer to this movie was released way back in October 2017. However, since then three delays have been announced: first from April 2018 to February 2019, then to August 2019, and finally to April 2020.
The delays have come as a surprise for fans, though, since the movie itself has been received well in test screenings. It also derives from the fan-favourite comics created by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz in the 1980s. Hopefully, we’ll finally be able to see this movie in the next year, and hopefully, it’s great.
- Mulan – March 27
You haven’t been paying enough attention to the entertainment world if just knowing that a movie was made by Disney doesn’t excite you. Come March 27, the company is set to turn another one of their popular animated films into a live-action epic.
The film was originally scheduled to be released in 2018 but was delayed because Disney was busy finding the best star. They found one of China’s most famous actresses, Liu Yifei also known as Crystal Liu and rounded up the cast with other leading actors such as Jet Li, Donnie Yen, and Jason Scott Lee. After seeing the success of “The Beauty and the Beast” and “The Lion King”, you know this one is going to be good.
- No Time To Die – April 8
James Bond’s 25th movie had so many controversies many fans thought it would never come out; Daniel Craig had pulled out, and director Danny Boyle joined and left the movie. However, Craig decided to play Bond one last time in True Detective’s Cary Fukunaga, the first American director to lead a Bond movie. He’ll be joined by various stars like Rami Malek, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Wishaw, Jeffrey Wright, and Léa Seydoux.
- Uncharted – December 18
Releasing late in 2020 will be the big-screen adaptation of Naughty Dog’s video game franchise Uncharted. The movie will have our beloved lead Nathan Drake but won’t follow the plot. Instead, it’ll focus on his younger years when he was still learning the tricks of the trade. Uncharted will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg and will star Tom Holland and Bryan Cranston among others.
