Accusing government of witch-hunting, Pakistan Peoples’ party’s leader Nafisa Shah said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf government has no agenda but to take revenge and launch fake accountability against opposition parties.
While addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, Ms. Shah said that the people in government had been given free hand with no joint investigation team constituted against them.
“We have the ability and required the number to oust the PTI government, but we are letting it function as we want to give them space to expose their incompetence,” said Mr. Kaira.
“We do not want to topple the government but see political and economic stability in the country. But if the government keeps pushing us against the wall, it should be ready for the consequences”, threatened Ms. Shah in the media talk. Former PPP MNA Palwasha Khan was also present on the occasion.
Referring to the CJP orders to review 172 individuals placed on the Exit Control List, Ms. Shah said that the mere formation of a review committee instead of corrective action was contempt of the court order.
As a matter of fact, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary has already declared that the review committee working under the Ministry of Interior will review the individuals placed on ECL in fake accounts case ‘as per the court order’. Committee will brief the cabinet in the coming week and the decision of excluding or adding the names would be taken according to the recommendations of the Committee.

Earlier, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira during a press conference in Lahore also said that PPP could easily topple the PTI government but would not do so. “We have the ability and required the number to oust the PTI government, but we are letting it function as we want to give them space to expose their incompetence,” said Mr. Kaira.
Pakistan Peoples’ Party has lately been threatening to topple the government as the investigations into fake accounts by JIT have held PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Omni Group responsible for the suspicious transactions, after which federal cabinet decided to put names of accused in no-fly list. “They will be held accountable and each and every penny of the national exchequer will be recovered,” Mr. Fawad Chaudhary has said.
On one side, PPP has been claiming that they are no afraid of investigation and being out on ECL on the other side, it has launched a media campaign against the government as its leadership asserts it can and will– if need be– oust the government.

Analysts believe, if PPP is as fair and innocent as it claims to be, they would not fear and meddle in the affairs and let the accountability process continue and instead of proclaiming their honesty on media, they should have proven themselves right in front of JIT.
