The legends of Maula Jatt: Trailer leaves Twitter in awe

News Desk |

The new Maula Jatt trailer is already becoming a phenomenon. Soon after the release, people everywhere have been sharing and talking about Bilal Lashari’s hotly anticipated The Legend of Maula Jatt. Starring Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbassi, Humaima Malik, and Mahira Khan; the action drama is slated to release on Eid-ul-Fitr next year. Already social media is light up with fans praising the look of the film and the cast. Even certain Bollywood heavyweights have chimed in to praise the movie.

Karan Johar (who directed Fawad Khan in Kapoor and Sons and has been a vocal supporter of the actor) tweeted his excitement for the movie.

Equally excited was Indian director Anurag Kashyap (of Gangs of Wasseypur fame) who shared the link of the trailer and tagged Khan in the post.

Fawad’s Kapoor and Sons co-star Siddarth Malhotra also supported the film writing, “Kya baat hai mere dost 🙂 what a beautiful teaser and cast .. always an ardent admirer of @TheMahiraKhan and u and now with @HumaimaMalick and @iamhamzaabbasi it’s a double whammy! Can’t wait to watch this one….”

Bollywood analyst Taran Ardash also tweeted a link to the film and stated that 2019 would be a Khan vs Khan at the Pakistani Box office given that Salman Khan’s film Bharat is also set to release next year in that time frame.

In fact, the film’s trailer did so well that it was trending not only in Pakistan but in India as well. Pakistani stars weren’t far behind in praising the film.

Ali Zafar who was the lead actor in another huge Pakistani film, Teefa in Trouble, also tweeted out praise:

Mehreen Syed, a renowned model also showed her excitement for the upcoming tent-pole film.

With such praise for the cast and the film’s first look, one really hopes that The Legend of Maula Jatt delivers at the Box office. Already there is the talk of the film crossing the 100 crore mark locally and given that this is the most expensive Pakistani film to date, that would be a very good thing.

It is also worth mentioning that the movie is set to release in China too, as well as India (though the latter may be a harder task than it seems at the moment) and if all goes well then we could have our first crossover hit on our hands.

The jam-packed cast featuring the likes of Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Shafqat Cheema, Nayyar Ejaz, and Saima Baloch, Ali Azmat among others, will no doubt be a draw for audiences but let’s hope that the film earns positive reviews and good word of mouth to succeed in the highly competitive Eid-ul-Fitr slot. The Game of Thrones/Vikings look of the film could also allow it to be appealing for Chinese audiences but of course, Lashari needs to ensure that his action is as good as it can be.

Seeing the trailer, The Legend of Maula Jatt seems to be a huge success. Let’s just hope it’s not dead on arrival like the highly anticipated Bollywood’s ‘Thugs of Hindostan’.
