TKMG Road: Pakistan’s mega project progressing by leaps & bounds!

FWO employed state-of-the-art practices for the speedy completion of the Rs. 7 billion mega road project. It appears that the TKMG Road project is set to be completed by September 2022.

Earlier today, Frontier Works Organization (FWO) uploaded a video on its Twitter account, providing updates on the Timergara-Khar-Mamad Gat Road (TKMG). It appears that the Rs. 7 billion mega road project is set to be completed by September 2022.

Important to note, work on the road initially began in 2020 after former Prime Minister Imran Khan performed the ground-breaking during his visit to Bajaur tribal district. As an important part of Pakistan’s Central Trade Corridor (CTC), the 71. 197 km road TKMG Road will link Mohmand, Bajaur, and Dir subsequently.

The TKMG project has brought accessibility and augmented the speed of travel from Mamad Gat to Dir in 1 hour and 10 mins down from a tiresome 3 hours journey. Work on the Retaining walls is nearing completion. Meanwhile work on major bridges has also appreciated with FWO working around the clock to achieve the set milestones within the stipulated timeline.

Asphaltic work is in full swing and the team provides smooth traffic flow through diversions easing commuters. It is indeed state-of-the-art traffic management and planning, enabling a conducive environment for “Construction without Disturbance”. An organization like FWO can only epitomize such awe-inspiring management despite the challenging terrain of Bajaur. The ambitious TKMG road will also consist of a total of 7 bridges and 156 culverts.

The TKMG is a pivotal road project that will provide job opportunities to hundreds of local residents. In addition, the project will bring a new era of progress and prosperity to the region. The people of Bajaur also welcomed the launch of the work on the road project and expressed the hope that it would ensure modern communication facilities for them on completion.

FWO’s important role

Ever since its inception in 1966, FWO has progressed to become one of Pakistan’s largest engineering and construction organizations. Over the years, FWO has gone on to work on hundreds of diverse projects across the country, from KKH to the Makran Coastal Highway in Balochistan.

FWO often receives important mega infrastructure projects due to the organization’s timely and efficient implementation. Last year, Balochistan announced a plan to release Rs 182 billion to FWO for road and dam projects as part of the Southern Balochistan Project (SBP). Under the plan, FWO will construct various roads and dams in Awaran and Panjgur districts.

Apart from this, FWO works tirelessly to ensure the people of Pakistan have safe roads to travel on. Earlier, the KKH was blocked at two locations due to the heavy snowfall in Gilgit Baltistan. However, FWO worked for 5 days to clear the road and keep it open for traffic.

FWO also played a remarkable role in helping clear the expressway during the Murree tragedy this year. FWO brought in heavy machinery and bulldozers to remove the snow from the roads, allowing the safe evacuation of the stranded tourists.
