Toyota plans to release Corolla X 2021 model in Pakistan

2021 Toyota Corolla X will be available in both the 1.6L and 1.8L variants.

The Indus Motor Company (IMC), dealing with Toyota cars in Pakistan is all set to introduce the Corolla X package which boasts some exciting features like a glossy black grille and a silver one on top at the bumper end. For obvious reasons, Toyota has decided to facelift the 11th generation model currently available in the Pakistani auto market. This package will be available for both the 1.6 and the 1.8 Altis.

Most auto enthusiasts would have preferred to see the new shape i.e. the 12th generation being launched by the Indus Motor Company but with the recently introduced Yaris in Pakistan, it appears the wait is long before something like that materializes.

Customers in Pakistan – for now, will have to do with revamped bumpers and side-skirts.

Toyota Corolla, a subcompact car was introduced in 1966 — when its first model was unveiled. Since 1974 Corolla has become the most popular and best-selling vehicles of the Japanese automaker. The all-new Toyota Corolla 2020 which is now in its 12th generation, is being released by the automaker.

Toyota South Africa’s Advertising Manager claims: “Corolla’s target market is moving up in life — ambitious and tenacious, they are aspirational and want their vehicles to reflect their upwardly mobile status.

Toyota Corolla 12th generation

The new Toyota Corolla comes with an upgraded engine capacity of 1.8 litres. This combined with its state of the art athletic styling gives Corolla an edge over its competitors in Honda eg. City and Civic. The sleek body and a powerful engine is enough for you to experience a ride of your lifetime; a dynamic driving experience indeed.

12th gen Toyota Corolla 2020 comes in three models:

  • Corolla 1.8 XS CVT
  • Corolla 2.0 XR
  • Corolla 2.0 XR CVT

Corolla 2020 1.8 XS CVT drives its energy from the naturally aspirated 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine. This model offers 104 kW at 6000 r/min and 171 N.m at 3900 r/min to the front axle via a continuously variable transmission, resulting in a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in a claimed 10.5 seconds and a top speed of 195 km/h. For a mid-range vehicle, such capabilities will come in handy when Toyota tries to dominate the market with its 12th gen model.

Next up is the Corolla 2.0 XR. The extremely powerful 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine generates 125 kW at 6600 r/min and 200 N.m from 4400 to 4800 r/min. It is directed to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The obligatory sprint time falls to a claimed 8.0 seconds, while top speed climbs to 200 km/h.

Finally, the Corolla 2020 2.0 XR CVT features the same engine but swaps the manual cog-swapper for a CVT (with paddles), This transmission adds six-tenths to the 0-100 km/h dash and cuts five units from the top speed. But it’s interestingly the most frugal of the three, with claimed combined fuel economy coming in at 6,0 L/100 km.

Exterior

Just like all the latest vehicles, Toyota Corolla 2020 has a reversing camera installed. Other than this there are LED daytime running lamps to make a style statement with your vehicle. LED headlamps are automatic to provide you with an added level of ease. If we look toward the tyres, Corolla’s basic model is equipped with 16-inch alloys (with a full-size steel spare).

Eight exterior colours are offered, seven of which are metallic.

Interior

The XS trim level comes packed with some very advanced features:

  • Cruise control
  • Power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • Partial leather trim
  • Seven airbags

The XR model which is the advanced variant offers many more features like:

  • Adaptive cruise control

  • Heating for the side mirrors
  • 18-inch alloys (with a space-saver spare)
