Toyota Motor Corporation announced a newly established Battery Electric Vehicles series (BEVs), with the unveiling of bZ4X crossover SUV on April 19 in Japan. The vehicles are part of its environment friendly, electrified Toyota bZ line-up.
The automaker unveiled a concept version of the Toyota bZ4X, which will be the first model under the new series. Toyota aims to produce 15 new BEVs by 2025, of which seven will carry the “Beyond Zero” (bZ) label.
Toyota bZ4X will arrive in the markets next year. The vehicle is built on the Toyota and Subaru co-developed electric platform as per the former’s press release: “Toyota is working together with Subaru Corporation (Subaru) to promote car-making that takes advantage of the strengths of both companies. Toyota hopes to begin worldwide sales of the Toyota bZ4X, a new SUV BEV, by the middle of 2022.”
Toyota also clearly laid out its motives behind the launching of the new BEV, and in-particular bZ series. It said in a statement, “Toyota intends to contribute to SDGs based on the perspective of “home planet” that responds to environmental issues of global scale above and beyond the concepts of “hometown” and “home country” that the automotive industry has long continued its business in. Toyota intends to fully concentrate on achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, in accordance with the energy and industry policies in different countries.”

“Toyota is establishing a full line-up of electrified vehicles, which has worked in reducing carbon emissions, based on the concept of introducing sustainable vehicles practically to the market. The number of electrified models will reach around 70 by 2025,” it added.
Toyota’s bZ4X Concept
The all-new signature electric vehicles series of Toyota, which includes bZ4X has a lot to offer in terms of the style, power and efficiency. The bZ4X is similar in shape and size to the RAV4 crossover but lower, with a longer wheelbase and sharper styling. Toyota deserves credit for according a very futuristic outlook to the vehicle, which is rare for an electric vehicle.
If we look at the interior, the all-new Toyota bZ4X will come equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art features which include a large digital gauge cluster set, steering controls, A large infotainment system display screen and a multitude of ports including two USB type C ports, for accommodating the users’ daily needs.

What’s under the hood?
Toyota hasn’t said anything about the vehicle’s battery size or mileage but we expect it to compete against the likes of Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y – the two electric crossover vehicles that offer similar features. The Mustang has a range of 305 miles while Tesla’s EV boasts 326 miles. The competition is tough but let’s see how Toyota responds!

Price
Currently, there is no confirmation from Toyota regarding the price of the bZ4X model hitting markets in 2022. However, according to our auto experts’ estimation, based upon individual assessment and evaluation, the vehicle is likely to cost between USD 39,000-40,000.
