The all-new Toyota Yaris is set to release in Pakistan this year. Toyota through this car, intends to replace the 1.3-liter variants of Corolla. The launch of Yaris is highly anticipated by corolla fans across the country.
Its price and specifications reveal a lot about its potential competitors within the market — with Honda City and Suzuki Ciaz being on top of the list.
How do their engines compare?
Honda City is equipped with a 16-valve 4-cylinder I-VTEC 1339 cc engine along with an electronic fuel injection (EFI) system. It produces a maximum output power of 100 hp at 6000 rpm and 128 Nm of maximum torque. It has a compact 5-speed automatic transmission (progressive shift management technology).
In contrast, Toyota Yaris has a 4-cylinder in-line 16-valve DOHC with dual VVT-I 1329 cc 1NR-FE engine with sequential multi-port fuel injection (SFI) system. It has the capacity to provide maximum output power of 98 hp at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 123 Nm at 4200 rpm. It works with a 7-speed CVT / Sport Shiftmatic System.

Performance on bumpy roads
Honda City is equipped with a disc braking system at the front wheels, while the rear portion is fitted with drum brakes. City has a MacPherson Strut Suspension with a stabilizer at the front while the rear side is installed with a torsion beam along with a stabilizer.
Toyota Yaris is incorporated with ventilated disc brakes at the front wheels and drum brakes at the rear side. Yaris also comes with a state-of-the-art Brake Assist (BA) system, which is not commonly found in mid-range vehicles. The front suspension of Yaris GLi CVT is equipped with Mac Pherson Strut, whereas the rear suspension has a torsion beam.

Which car is the safest option?
Toyota Yaris is equipped with central door locking, dual SRS Airbags (Driver and Passenger), hill-assist system, traction control, child seat anchors, anti-theft system with immobilizer, high mount stop lamp etc.
If we look at Honda City 1.3-litre I-VTEC Prosmatec, it comes with just a few safety and security features: Immobilizer, key alarm, crumple zones, fuel consumption warning and door beams. It’s note-worthy that none of the variants of Honda City comes with airbags in Pakistan.
Entertainment features
Honda City comes with a few basic level entertainment features. Its infotainment system has 3 basic modes: FM Radio, AUX, and USB, supported by only 2 speakers in the front doors. The provision of rear speakers is an optional feature.

Toyota Yaris, is equipped with an in-dash Touch Audio System with 3 lines LCD display. It offers connectivity through Bluetooth. Also present are USB and AUX ports along with the option of playing CDs and Radio. Like city, Toyota Yaris is also equipped with 2 speakers only.
