United Arab Emirates (UAE) has granted a golden visa to Peshawar Zalmi’s owner, Javed Afridi. He was granted the golden visa in recognition of his services for the support of the community through sports and his exemplary achievements as a businessman.
On Wednesday, Javed Afridi thanked UAE for the heartwarming gesture of appreciating his services. “I am pretty much grateful to the leadership of the UAE for the visa. It’s not just a visa, it’s also to pass on the message to the next generation that if someone has the ability, he can achieve those things. I am hopeful that in this course of action, many investors will come to the UAE,” said Javed Afridi while talking to Khaleej Times.

In his conversation, he praised the efforts of the UAE against the pandemic. “The country’s leadership is exemplary. They have a very big vision for their nation. The UAE has become the biggest attraction for anyone who has some innovative ideas. Also, the responsibility shown by the UAE government during the pandemic has been exemplary,” he said.

Javed Afridi is hopeful to play a vital part in strengthening the relations between UAE and Pakistan.
“We used to come to the UAE for cricket. We (Haier) used to sponsor Pakistan’s bilateral series (in the UAE). But this time they offered the golden visa, so, it’s not just cricket now….maybe I can become the bridge between the business community here in the UAE and Pakistan,” he said.
Meanwhile, Javed Afridi is making his presence equally felt in another brotherly country, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His team, Peshawar Zalmi will be the first Pakistani team to play a friendly match against Saudi cricket team.

Earlier this month, Javed Afridi had challenged the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation to play a match against Peshawar Zalmi. The Saudi Federation had accepted the challenge. The date of the match has not been announced as of yet.
