A convicted child-sex offender, who was part of a gang that exploited teenage girls in a northern English town, has been arrested in Pakistan, the British High Commission in Islamabad said on Thursday. “Choudhry Ikhalaq Hussain was arrested during a joint operation between the Federal Investigation Agency, the Punjab Police and the UK’s National Crime Agency, in Sangla city in Punjab on Saturday, 26 January,” the statement said.
Hussain, 41, was part of a group of men of Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Afghan origin who were jailed for abusing dozens of girls following an investigation centered on the town of Rochdale near Manchester.
The men groomed the girls with gifts and plied them with alcohol and drugs before forcing them to have sex with others. Hussain escaped during the trial but was found guilty in 2016 in his absence of a series of serious offenses including rape and sexual activity with a child.
Police found the body of the minor girl from the jungle near village Kayala and shifted the body to Havelian Hospital. DPO Abbottabad Abbas Majeed Marwat and DSP Sonia Shamroz also reached the hospital after the incident.
“The arrest of this individual, who has been convicted of sexual offenses by a British court, is a significant achievement and another excellent example of UK-Pakistan cooperation in tackling international criminality and impunity,” Thomas Drew, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan said.
Another first class bit of cooperation between British and Pakistani law enforcement. And further proof that criminals can no longer find sanctuary by fleeing to Pakistan. Our thanks to the officers of FIA and Punjab Police. @NCA_UK @gmpolice https://t.co/gWtKrbfacw

In Pakistan, according to reports compiled by Sahil, a non-profit organization dedicated to compiling data on issues like child abuse, rape, and domestic violence, 11 children are being abused on a daily basis. Even though Imran Ali– the infamous convict of rape and murder of six-year-old Zainab Amin–was hanged last year for his heinous act, and it was expected that punishment would threaten the criminal minds, the number of child sex abuse has not declined at all.
