Just two months after the release of Emily in Paris season 4, fans are facing uncertainty about the show’s future cast lineup. Lucas Bravo, who portrays the beloved chef Gabriel, has hinted that he might not return for season 5. In a recent interview with IndieWire, Bravo reflected on his character’s journey, admitting he feels increasingly disconnected from Gabriel.
“In season one, the ‘sexy chef’ was very much a part of me, but as the series progressed, we started to drift apart due to the choices and direction they gave him. I’ve never felt so distant from him,” Bravo revealed.

Bravo’s main concern lies in Gabriel’s shift from a lively, playful figure to a melancholic, confused character.
“In the first season, there was a lot of me in him. But as they made him unaware of his surroundings, always victimized, and perpetually lost, it stopped being enjoyable for me to play or watch this beloved character slowly transform into something unrecognizable,” he shared.
With his contract concluding after season 4, Bravo is reluctant to commit to the next season. “I’m questioning whether I want to be part of season 5… I want to see Gabriel return to his fun, cheeky, lively self. Spending three seasons playing a sad, depressed, and lost character is no longer enjoyable. This is a comedy, and while everyone else is having fun, my character is sinking into an unknown space.”

Despite his frustrations, Bravo expressed deep gratitude for the role that launched his career.
“I love the show. It’s where everything began for me, and I care about the show and the people involved. It may sound ungrateful, but when you truly love something, you want the best version of it. I won’t pretend I haven’t been frustrated with Gabriel’s direction, but we’ll see what the future holds. The show isn’t over yet.”
Fans now eagerly await an official update: will Lucas Bravo reprise his role as Gabriel, or has his journey in Emily in Paris come to a close?
