The US State Department avoids questions on former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan in a weekly media briefing.
Tammy Bruce was asked about the question on the release of Imran Khan. She avoided the question and said that she did not want to comment on the internal matters of the country.
“I’m not going to comment on the internal frameworks of another country,” Bruce said. She added that for queries on the views of President Donald Trump, one must contact the White House.
The spokesperson added that President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have consistently pressed on the welfare of its neighbors. “The United States is focused on what is happening globally,” Bruce added, reflecting on the US’s broader foreign policy approach. Adding that, State Marco Rubio has “made it clear” that “we care about the planet. We care about our neighbors. We care about what’s happening on the globe. And that’s been evidenced by our actions”.
A journalist from a Pakistani newspaper had framed the question of whether President Donald Trump would take some sort of action against Imran Khan being jailed as “the most popular leader with the majority number of seats in parliament”.
