Vasay Chaudhry calls Yasmin Rashid the ‘Lioness’

Disturbing images of Punjab Police manhandling Yasmin Rashid and other members of the party with her made the rounds. Video of Punjab Police smashing the windshield and screen of her car went viral on social media.

TV host, comedian, and actor Vasay Chaudhry has praised Yasmin Rashid of Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf for bravely fighting against the attack by Punjab Police during the Long March on 25th May.

Disturbing images of Punjab Police manhandling Yasmin Rashid and other members of the party with her made the rounds. Video of Punjab Police smashing the windshield and screen of her car went viral on social media. In a video message, she said that she suffered minor injuries when Punjab Police attacked her.

She received praise for bravely fighting against state aggression. Vasay Chaudhry in his tweet said:

“The Lioness of Lahore, no matter which party you are from but two days back the kind of determination, resolve, courage & commitment she showed was insane & today she took our little quips with equal Grace, laughter, and smiles. Thank You, madam,” said Vasay Chaudhry in his tweet.

Yasmin Rashid became a face of resistance and courage for PTI. Videos suggest that she was attacked at multiple points in Lahore as she headed to Islamabad to participate in the protest.

She was also arrested by the Punjab Police for a brief period but was released after the protest from PTI workers. The Punjab Police resorted to tear gas shelling at the PTI rally led by Dr. Yasmin Rashid. Dr. Yasmin Rashid was heading to Batti Chowk when she argued with policemen deployed to block the party workers from leaving the city.

Police personnel told the PTI leader that she can not go but she did not pay any heed and continued to drive ahead. At this, the police resorted to baton charge and broke the vehicle’s windscreen. However, she managed to make her way. Dr. Yasmin Rashid also asserted that she was pushed and dragged along by the police.

According to Yasmin Rashid, the police misbehaved with the driver who was driving the car.
