Video of fake army officer threatening COAS Bajwa, Govt goes viral

In a recent disinformation campaign, a video of a fake army officer is circling online where he can be seen threatening the government of Pakistan, including COAS.

A video of a fake Pakistan army officer threatening the government of Pakistan and COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa has gone viral on social media. The video of reportedly fake army officers had been first shared by the staunch critics of Pakistan including Taha Siddiqui, who is a foreign-based journalist.

The video shows a man dressed in the Pakistan Army uniform urging Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to intervene in the situation regarding the burgeoning crisis between the religious party, Tehreek-I-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), and the government of Pakistan after the government imposed a ban on the party last week for challenging the writ of the state and resorting to terrorism in their ongoing protests.

He said that COAS Bajwa should come into action and help TLP. The man threatened that if COAS Bajwa fails to solve the crisis then a large number of officers from law enforcement agencies from Punjab including the Pakistan Army, Punjab Police, and FC, Pakistan Ranger will revolt against the government of Pakistan and the armed forces of Pakistan.

He added that young officers are ready to sacrifice themselves for the protection of the sanctity of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. He said earlier, Pakistan army officers had laid down their lives for the protection of nation and homeland, however, they are ready to go to any extremes to fight against the disrespect of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. He made some shocking yet unverified claims that nearly 45 lovers of the Holy Prophet have been martyred.

Another video of a purported Pakistan army officer was also shared on social media in which the man is seen abusing Prime Minister Imran Khan and urging COAS Bajwa to take strict action against the government.

Several social media users have rallied in support of the government of Pakistan and the Pakistan army, calling it malicious propaganda by the foreign enemies to exacerbate the unrest in the country and spread disinformation in the country.
