SSG Commando Sepoy Israr Mohammed says he was ready to die to save the Pakistan Ambassador to Afghanistan Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani from the attack by terrorists in Afghanistan last week.
In a video making rounds on Twitter, injured Sepoy Mohammed said he did not care for his life during the attack on the Head of the Mission of Pakistan in Afghanistan. The ambassador was attacked during the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul. The incident took place after Friday prayers when Nizamani was walking back to his residence.
Sepoy Israr Mohammed from the Special Services Group was posted on the security of the ambassador in Afghanistan. “After the ambassador offered prayers, we were taking a walk when someone opened fire. I was almost five meters behind ambassador sahib and I jumped on him and knocked him down to shield him,” he said in a video recorded from his hospital bed.

According to Sepoy Mohammad, he received a bullet in his chest when he was picking up the head of the mission. He added that after receiving the bullet, he put his one hand on the wound and dragged Nizamani from the other hand. Mohammad suffered another injury on his leg, shortly after which he fell unconscious.
“I was posted to protect the ambassador and wouldn’t have been worried even if I had to sacrifice my life,” he said. He added that the important thing in life was to protect the life of the ambassador.
Former Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mansoor Ahmed Khan appreciated the bravery of the sepoy. “Proud of Israr for his bravery and devotion to duty. I am also thankful to him personally and the entire SSG team who were protecting me when I was serving as Ambassador in Kabul. Salam to these great sons of Pakistan,” he tweeted.
Sepoy Muhammad was critically injured and was shifted to Pakistan later.
