WATCH: Lawyer smashes glass walls of LHC in anger

Reports suggest the lawyer has been identified as Majid Jehangir. In the video, he can be seen asking the police officers to back off. According to a spokesperson of Lahore High Court, a case has been registered against the lawyer under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

A lawyer smashed the glass walls installed at the counters in the newly built office of the Lahore High Court (LHC) for the delay in receiving the certified copy of the case on Wednesday.

The video of the lawyer smashing the glass walls with a large wooden stick has been making rounds on social media since morning. Reports suggest the lawyer has been identified as Majid Jehangir. In the video, he can be seen asking the police officers to back off, and then he started hitting the glasses with the wooden stick.

According to the spokesperson of Lahore High Court, a case has been registered against the lawyer. He has been arrested under Anti-Terrorism Act. The bar council has condemned the incident and has suspended the license of the alleged lawyer.

DIG Operations Suhail Chaudhry said that legal action will be taken against the accused as no matter how powerful someone is, they are not above the law. Security of the courts is a priority and no negligence would be tolerated. A picture of the lawyer behind the bar has been circulating on social media. The lawyer has been receiving flak on social media for losing his temper and destroying public property.

It is not the first time, lawyers have been witnessed breaching the law and order in any situation. Several incidents have been reported earlier where lawyers have been spotted brazenly violating the law and resorting to physical assaults even.

Social media users have several times called for the accountability of lawyers and reforms within the justice system of Pakistan so that their violent behavior can be controlled. Social media users have also expressed angst about why no one stopped the lawyer from destroying the Lahore High Court even though he was alone.
