WhatsApp, the Meta-owned instant messaging giant, has rolled out a new feature aimed at helping users better manage unfinished messages. The “Draft” feature, exclusive to Apple users for now, flags incomplete messages directly in the chat list, making it easier to revisit and complete conversations.
Draft Label for Incomplete Messages
The “Draft” feature adds a visible label to chats with unfinished messages, allowing users to identify them at a glance. This eliminates the need to manually open chats to check for unsent texts—a process many users found tedious and often resulted in forgotten messages.

When users leave a message partially typed, the app now highlights the respective chat with the “Draft” label. According to WABetaInfo, the feature not only streamlines communication but also ensures that interrupted conversations are not left unresolved.
This update, noted in WhatsApp’s App Store changelog, is expected to roll out over the coming weeks. Users are encouraged to install the latest version of the app to enjoy this improvement.
Enhanced User Experience
The new feature caters to individuals juggling multiple tasks who may get distracted while composing messages. By flagging incomplete texts, WhatsApp helps users minimize missed communication opportunities.
“Unlike before, where users had to remember or manually check each chat, the new ‘Draft’ label makes it clearer which conversations require attention,” said WABetaInfo. This addition supports better organization and ensures fewer messages slip through the cracks, especially for those with busy routines.
Widgets for Improved Accessibility
In addition to the draft feature, WhatsApp has introduced new Home Screen widgets for iOS users. These widgets offer deeper integration with iOS features, allowing users to interact with their favorite chats directly from their Home Screen.
The widgets are available in two sizes:
- Small Widget: Displays the latest updates from a single contact.
- Large Widget: Offers a broader view, showing updates from up to three contacts or groups.
These interactive widgets leverage the latest iOS API, ensuring real-time data updates and an enhanced user experience.
Meta AI Personalization Features Coming Soon
While the draft and widget features are the latest additions, WhatsApp users can also look forward to an innovative AI-based update in the near future. Meta is set to introduce customizable voices for its AI assistant, Meta AI.
Spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.17.16, this feature will allow users to choose from 10 different voice options. Whether users prefer a calming tone or an energetic pitch, these voices aim to make interactions with Meta AI feel more personal and engaging.
The voice options are also expected to improve accessibility by accommodating different accents, speech patterns, and user preferences. For individuals with hearing difficulties, certain voice tones may provide clearer communication, underscoring Meta’s commitment to inclusivity.
