WhatsApp redesigns Communities tab for better navigation

This update is currently available to select beta testers on Android and will gradually roll out to more users over the coming weeks.

Meta-owned WhatsApp is rolling out a redesigned Communities tab, focusing on improved navigation, ease of use, and streamlined organization. This update is currently available to select beta testers on Android and will gradually roll out to more users over the coming weeks.

Cleaner Interface for Seamless Navigation

The redesigned Communities tab aims to simplify how users interact with Communities and their linked group chats. With a cleaner and more intuitive interface, users can now navigate effortlessly, even if they are new to the feature.

A key improvement is the introduction of a compact layout, reducing the amount of screen space each section occupies. This not only minimizes clutter but also allows more Communities to be displayed on a single page, significantly cutting down the time spent scrolling.

Quick Access to Group Chats

One of the standout features of the update is the addition of a dedicated button next to each Community name. This button enables users to view all group chats linked to a specific Community with a single tap, streamlining access to conversations.

Additionally, the redesigned layout retains the ability to show the latest activity within each Community, giving users a quick overview of recent group interactions without needing to open individual chats.

Enhanced Features for Better Organization

To make managing Communities even easier, WhatsApp has introduced a floating action button. This new feature allows users to quickly create new Communities directly from the tab, simplifying the process for administrators and active users.

By organizing Communities and their linked group chats in one dedicated tab, WhatsApp provides a centralized space for users to manage their groups more effectively.

Upcoming Icon Customization for Better Recognition

In addition to the Communities redesign, WhatsApp is working on introducing vibrant themed icons for contacts, group chats, and Communities. Currently, these icons appear in a neutral grey. The planned update will add bright colors to help users quickly distinguish between conversations, making the interface more visually appealing and practical.
