Four terrorists have been arrested by the police in Karachi. According to details, police’s Counter-Terrorism Department on Thursday revealed to have arrested four suspects linked with the banned Sindh Revolution Army (SRA) allegedly involved in recent grenade and cracker attacks on Rangers’ mobiles and checkpoints in Karachi and Ghotki.
CTD DIG Omar Shahid Hamid said that the police along with a federal intelligence agency arrested the suspects identified as Sarang, alias Sohail; Bashir Ahmed; Anis Ahmed and Khawand Bux and recovered hand grenades and pistols from them.
Speaking at a press conference at his office, the senior officer added that the held suspects were involved in explosions in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Sachal and Liaquatabad areas as well as other parts of Sindh.
During the initial interrogation, they revealed that they carried out the grenade attacks on Rangers’ mobiles at Kamran Chowrangi in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on June 10 and the Manzil petrol pump in Malir, respectively, on the same day, in which two passers-by were hurt.
They also told the investigators that SRA ‘commander’ was Syed Asghar Ali Shah, alias Sajjad Shah, whose two brothers — Pariyal Shah and Zamin Shah — had been killed during a police encounter at Safari Park in Karachi around seven years ago in which DSP Sharea Faisal Qasim Ghouri was martyred while Inspector Haider Ali and Inspector Malik Saleem and other policemen were wounded.
India sponsors terrorism in Pakistan?
It is important to mention here that Pakistan has been complaining about India’s involvement in its domestic affairs. India sponsors, Pakistan maintains, Baloch and Sindhi terrorists to destabilize the country.
In November 2018, three heavily armed militants attempted to enter the Chinese consulate in the ‘high security zone’ of Karachi’s Clifton but were shot dead in an encounter with law enforcers. The gun-and-grenade assault also claimed the lives of two police officials and two visa applicants, as well as injuring a private guard of the foreign mission. The BLA claimed responsibility for the attack.

Later on, police revealed the details of the attackers and their facilitators. “Rashid Baloch alias Abdullah is not only the facilitator of the attack but also a key man of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA),” said DIG CTD Abdullah Sheikh. “After the findings of the initial investigation, we were closely monitoring suspects and finally found his connection with the episode. The interesting fact that we gathered through technological support is that he was very close to the Chinese consulate when it was attacked and personally monitored the assault.”
Notably, Rashid received Rs949,000 to his bank account just days before the attack and he arranged all the finances, logistics, and cash support to facilitate the attackers.
India has always been responsible for exploiting ethnic fault lines in Pakistan. It is worth recalling that Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav, an Indian army officer working in Pakistan, was arrested during an intelligence operation conducted in Balochistan in March 2016, and he was apprehended after illegally crossing the Baloch border from Iran. Jadhav was travelling on an original Indian passport under the fake name of Hussein Mubarak Patel.
Later, recorded video statements of his confession were released, where a comfortable and at-ease Jadhav was seen confessing all his crimes of espionage. He revealed that he was working under the directives of India’s premier spy agency, RAW, and confessed about his involvement in subversive activities and terrorist attacks targeting Karachi and Balochistan.
