PML-N senior leader and Economic Affairs Minister Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Tuesday claimed that the party supremo Nawaz Sharif would return to Pakistan in January 2023.
PML-N Supreme leader and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has been living in London in self-exile for the past almost four years.
While talking to a private news channel, Ayaz Sadiq said Nawaz Sharif will return in January 2023. He also claimed that Nawaz Sharif will allocate tickets to the candidates for the next general elections, also adding that the polls would be held in the country in 2023.

Moreover, Ayaz Sadiq predicted that the assemblies may be dissolved between March-June 2023. Pertinent to mention that PML-N’s political rival PTI announced to dissolve of the Punjab and KPK assemblies while quitting Sindh and Balochistan assemblies. Currently, both PTI and PML-N-led coalition government are devising strategies to deal with the dissolution of the assemblies.
The curious case of Nawaz Sharif’s return
Meanwhile, PML-N leaders have on numerous occasions given dates for Nawaz Sharif’s return, in fact since 2021 PML-N has been making claims on Nawaz Sharif’s return.
At first, PML-N claimed that Nawaz Sharif will return in early 2022. Then it was claimed that Nawaz Sharif will return in May if the vote of no-confidence motion succeeds. The vote of no-confidence was indeed successful as the PDM coalition ousted the then Prime Minister Imran Khan.
However, Nawaz Sharif did not return, and instead, it was claimed that Nawaz Sharif will return in November. His daughter and PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz – who is also in London – was believed to bring him back. Now, in the latest claims, Nawaz Sharif will apparently “return” to Pakistan in January 2023.

The PML-N supremo had left for London in November 2019 following his illness as then prime minister Imran Khan had permitted him to go abroad for medical treatment.
In 2018, an accountability court sentenced Nawaz to seven years in prison in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference, while he was also sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison and slapped an £8 million fine (Rs1.3 billion) in the Avenfield properties reference.
Subsequently, in 2019, the Lahore High Court (LHC) after suspending his sentence, allowed Nawaz to go abroad for medical treatment.
