Will Not Form Coalition with PPP: PTI

PTI reaffirms independence, declines coalition with PPP post-Supreme Court win; eyes no-confidence motion and maintains principled governance approach in Pakistan politics.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) reaffirmed its independence in Pakistani politics, declaring no intention to forge a coalition government with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) following a significant legal triumph in the Supreme Court. The court ruled in favor of PTI in a case concerning the distribution of reserved seats for women and minorities in national and provincial assemblies based on proportional representation.

Barrister Gohar Khan, the current PTI chairman, clarified the party’s stance after the court’s decision. He emphasized PTI’s commitment to principles over power-sharing, citing former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s philosophy of people-centric politics.

While open to political dialogue, PTI remains steadfast against alliances with major political entities like PPP, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

Future Prospects and No-Confidence Motion

Regarding the possibility of a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Gohar Khan indicated that while such discussions had not yet taken place within PTI’s leadership, the option remains on the table. As PTI aims to secure a majority in the National Assembly, the decision on potential political maneuvers will be considered in due course.

The PTI’s decision underscores a strategic approach amid evolving political dynamics in Pakistan. With a clear mandate from recent elections, PTI seeks to maintain its stance on governance and policy without compromising its founding principles. The upcoming sessions of the National Assembly are expected to reveal further strategies as PTI navigates its path forward in Pakistani politics.
