A woman chained by three brothers for a year has been recovered from the Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday. Police recovered the lady from a house. As shown in the viral video, the woman was chained and locked up in a dark room by her three brothers last year.
District Police Officer Swabi said that they raided the house after receiving the information. They released the woman from the darkroom during the raid.
“The victim H* is around 33 and she is the mother of two children. She had a fight with her husband and was divorced by him in 2016,” said the Police official.

Adding that divorce had enraged her brothers, they also did not like her seeking a job and going to court against her former husband for the expenses of two children.
“In order to stop the woman from going out, her brothers not only tortured her but also chained and locked her in a dark room. A chain had been wrapped around her neck and another one was around her foot for the past year. She had been kept like an animal inside the room, without electricity,” said the DPO.
DPO Swabi added that police have arrested her three brothers- Sayar Khan, Fahim Khan, and Nadeem Khan. The fourth brother is on the run.
“There was not even a fan inside the room. When we raided the house, we saw that she had been chained like an animal and the only light coming into the room was through a window,” said another police official.

The woman in her initial statement had said that she was married thirteen years ago and has two children, a son, and a daughter. Her brothers blamed her for divorces and even threatened to kill her. A case has been registered against them.
