World mourns the death of legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar

Lata Mangeshkar's death has sent shockwaves to her countless fans all over the world. The premiers of India and Pakistan expressed grief and sorrow on her death with tweets acknowledging her flawless aura and stature as a distinguished singer of this century.

The world mourns the death of legendary Indian singer, Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away at the age of 92 in Mumbai on Sunday morning. Singer also revered as the ‘nightingale of India’ died after COVID-19 complications.

The news sent shockwaves to her countless fans all over the world. Messages of condolences poured in from India, and the world.

The premiers of India and Pakistan expressed grief and sorrow on her death with a tweet acknowledging her flawless aura and stature as a distinguished singer of this century.

“I am anguished beyond words. The kind and caring Lata Didi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerize people,” wrote Indian PM Narendra Modi.

“Lata Didi’s songs brought out a variety of emotions. She closely witnessed the transitions of the Indian film world for decades. Beyond films, she was always passionate about India’s growth. She always wanted to see a strong and developed India.”

“I consider it my honour that I have always received immense affection from Lata Didi. My interactions with her will remain unforgettable. I grieve with my fellow Indians on the passing away of Lata Didi,” he said further.

End of a golden era

Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Imran Khan, also extended his condolence. “With the death of Lata Mangeshkar, the subcontinent has lost one of the truly great singers the world has known. Listening to her songs has given so much pleasure to so many people all over the world,” said PM Khan in a tweet.

Former president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai also voiced his sentiments on the death of Lata Mangeshkar.

“With her voice, Lata Mangeshkar filled millions of hearts with joy. Her melodies are universal and forever. My profound condolence to her family and the people of India. May the nightingale of India Rest In Peace,” wrote Karzai.

Pakistan’s skipper, Babar Azam also tweeted on the occasion. “End of a golden era. Her magical voice and legacy will continue to live in the hearts of millions worldwide. An unparalleled icon! RIP Smt. Lata Mangeshkar Ji” wrote Babar Azam in his tweet.
