YouTuber Aun Ali Khosa returns home after brief disapperance

Condemnation poured in over his alleged disappearance. His legal counsel, Khadija Siddiqi said: "Alhamdulillah Aun Ali Khosa has been released! Arrived home!."

YouTuber Aun Ali Khosa returned home on Sunday after being allegedly abducted for a few days. He reportedly disappeared on August 15th, 2024. His counsel informed he returned home safe and sound on Monday.

Last Friday, the Lahore High Court ordered the Lahore Police to produce him safe and sound by August 20th. His wife Binish Iqbal had claimed that he was the victim of the enforced disappearance. She claimed that her husband was in the “unlawful and illegal custody of law enforcement authorities. She expressed concerns for his safety.

A petition was filed, according to which, he was taken from his apartment in the late hours of August 15th, 2024. Aun Ali Khosa is a renowned YouTuber who has 137,000 followers on his channel.

The petition added that around a dozen police officers and unidentified men in plain clothes forcibly entered the residence of Aun Ali Khosa. They seized his phone, camera, laptop, computer system, and digital camera.

Condemnation poured in over his alleged disappearance. His legal counsel, Khadija Siddiqi said: “Alhamdulillah Aun Ali Khosa has been released! Arrived home!.”

Mian Ali Ashfaq in his tweet said: “Aun Ali Khosa’s family has confirmed that he has reached home safely. Praise be to Allah.”

One of his legal counsel Murad Ali Khan Marwat in a tweet said that: “We will be withdrawing the petition for recovery of Aun Ali Khosa. He has reached home. Thank you for all your prayers and constant support.”

Khosa is a comedian and satirist who is a staunch critic of the present government of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Regarding his abduction Amnesty International South Asia said:”@amnesty calls on the Government of Pakistan to promptly disclose Aun’s whereabouts and ensure his immediate and safe return.”

They also demanded an ‘effective, independent and impartial investigation into his disappearance, and those suspected of criminal responsibility must be brought to justice in fair trials before an ordinary civilian court.’
